Right then, so a few weeks into lockdown, how are we all doing???? I can't believe the 6 nations is just rounded the corner, fingers crossed it will all go according to plan ... the schedule that is...

A few good news stories to tell you about.

Vaccination support
There was a great response to the request to support the vaccinations centre at the Racecourse, and one evening session was definitely a WRFC night out! Huge thanks to all those that gave up their time. The vaccinations are back on, so if you still have some spare time please turn up and do send in your pics....

The schedule begins from Monday 25th January and they are looking to fill their rota.

'As the Rugby club members were absolutely invaluable during the last clinic we thought we would reach out separately so see what support your members can offer. Thank you so much for your ongoing support.'

If you do have time and can volunteer they would welcome receiving your email address so they can contact you directly to plan rotas.
The three sessions are: 9-12pm, 12-3pm and 3-6pm and there will be split roles to inside and outside. Volunteers working inside need to arrive 45 minutes prior to their shift as they will need to complete a rapid covid test, and volunteers outdoors need to arrive 30 minutes early to ensure all necessary paperwork / inductions are completed.

Please contact Clare McFadden clare.mcfadden1@nhs.net

This is a massive community contribution, so thank you to anyone that can help out.

The Club has also been helping out the regular vaccination programme that is normally carried out in schools, however since they've been closed the vaccination team have chosen the Clubhouse as their new residence. No, that's not me in my nurses uniform with a pea-shooter!

Rugby supporting Mental health
Lockdown and all the restrictions we're living under is a toughie and we are all impacted, recognising this, a couple of our first team players have linked the club up with Looseheadz.

Please take a look around their website and check out all of the fantastic work the LooseHeadz foundation does - https://looseheadz.co.uk

We are also incredibly grateful to LooseHeadz who are offering our members a 15% discount on clothing items from the website. At checkout, use code - WRFCRUOK

Sam Woodhall, 1st XV player and life long member at the club will be our main point of contact for LooseHeadz and will manage the relationship between us and them. ‘’Hundreds of thousands of people suffer with mental health issues in today’s society. I have witnessed first hand the negative effects and how a person can turn against themselves and the ones they love. I’m excited to support a cause that can give so many people an opportunity to talk more openly, many of whom may not feel comfortable to do so at the moment. This partnership will aim to help anyone suffering in silence to realise that they are not alone, especially within rugby community.’’

Watch this space over coming weeks as we start to introduce some club wide challenges to get your hands on some stash!! But in the meantime please feel free to reach out to either Sam Woodhall or Adam Bailes if you have any questions or ideas on how we can make a positive impact in supporting our members around mental health.

The RFU website also has these links to keep the youngsters entertained, don't really think there's an age limit though...

#GetYourShirtOn videos and the School of Ruck from the World Rugby Museum to help support parents’ home-schooling by providing physical activities and also interesting trivia, reading, and spelling challenges.

School Of Ruck (worldrugbymuseum.com)

Take care of yourselves, please do let us know if anyone needs any support, we're all here for each other. We will of course launch our club fantasy 6 nations competition as soon as I find the link!!! Bring on the tele Rugby ...
