Sunday 3rd November was the first home game of Windsor Dames for this season 2019/2020, against Chesham Ladies.

The Dames started well with a dominant forward pack in the scrum and in the rucks, allowing Jessica O’Sullivan to break the defensive line and to open the score after a few minutes. Cherelle Jameson converted and brought the score to 7-0 for Windsor. The game then turned in favour of the away team, who took possession of the ball and forced Windsor to commit defensive errors. They quickly dominated the score board with 2 successive tries. Windsor Dames tried to up their defence but the opposition kept on breaking the line with very good runs from their number 8. First half finished on a score of 7-24.

Second-half started with another try from the opposition which was followed by 2 injuries on Windsor side, with Ellie Barley touched at the ankle and Lily Cox concussed. The home team was then left with 13 players and Chesham offered  to lend 2 players so that the game could carry on. It started back with a delay as the teams moved pitches due to an injury. The break seemed to help Windsor to refocus, and as the game restarted Windsor were once more on top. The pressure on the Chesham defence paid off as an attempted clearance kick was charged down, the bouncing ball fell kindly for Manon Bataille who scored the try after a 10 meter run to the line. Not long after Windsor entered the 22 adverse with a good attacking shape. Cherelle Jameson kicked the ball over the defence and was tackled without the ball while running to catch it and score. The referee immediately accorded a penalty try. Chesham replied with a converted try which was followed by a home try scored by one of the 2 Chesham players on a quick tap and go. Finally, the away team finished the game with a beautiful try scored on the wing.

Final score 24-43 to Chesham.

We wish a quick recovery to Ellie & Lily !
